Our History
MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER – WestCMR welcomed its first-ever special guest at our JAM event. Trish Hunt, the author of From Stuck To Unstoppable, joined our team to share insights on how to be the best versions of themselves.
EXPANSION – WestCMR broke ground on the 2nd expansion of our main building. This new two-story addition will expand our first-floor warehouse and sales floor, as well as “The Venue at WestCMR,” a second-floor rooftop space available to staff, and WestCMR’s local community and philanthropic partners.
TENURE – As of July, four team members at WestCMR had reached the 10-year milestone, and three had reached the 5-year milestone. All of which, were rewarded with a TOAL.
PHILANTHROPY – Our annual Cut Funds the Cure Event turnout was outstanding, allowing us to raise $6,000, the most WestCMR has ever raised for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
27 YEARS AND COUNTING – This year, WestCMR celebrated 27 years as a company and now has over 70 team members!

(BACK TO) JAMMING OUT – WestCMR returned our in-person January Annual Meeting (JAM) after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. This (usually) annual tradition allows for all departments to celebrate the prior year's successes and present goals for the year ahead.
AWARDS – Our CEO Randy Ware gave out 22 internal awards during our JAM – 9 Westies, recognizing those who best embodied the WestCMR values, and 13 Eagles, for those who exceeded expectations. Our 10th year of giving awards!
PHILANTHROPY – During the summer, WestCMR hosted our Cut Funds the Cure Event benefiting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, where we shaved 33 heads in honor of those children battling cancer. WestCMR also celebrated the holiday season with Habitat for Humanity as they broke ground on their newest project called “Longlake Preserve”— an exciting new 54-unit townhome development in Largo. OPEN HOUSE – WestCMR welcomed family, friends, customers, and local vendors for an evening celebrating continued growth and our new building renovations. The night featured drinks, light bites, and, most importantly, great company.
TENURE – A record-breaking number of team members achieved significant milestones, with a remarkable four individuals reaching the 5-year mark and two attaining the impressive 10-year milestone in 2023. Each of them was rewarded with unforgettable Trips of a Lifetime!
RECOGNITION – Our company recruitment video, shot and produced in 2022 by our incredible videographer Rachel Sykes, won a Telly Award. WestCMR also received the Culture Creator Award from AMPLIFY Clearwater. This award recognizes our commitment to fostering a positive and nurturing work environment at WestCMR.
INTERNATIONAL – We are on the path to normal, which means international travel is back! GeoSurgical traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, to attend its first-ever Medical Fair Thailand tradeshow and to Dusseldorf, Germany, to exhibit at Medica. Each trip helped our team make new connections, both internally and externally.
HOLIDAYS – We enjoyed our first Holiday party since the pandemic, and it was a big one, with over 100 attendees including staff, vendors, and guests. There was even a Santa Claus sighting! We are excited to return this tradition.
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS – WestCMR celebrated this milestone with a bang! On May 20th, 2022, we hosted a ribbon cutting celebration in our newly renovated upstairs space, where Randy announced a surprise donation of $10,000 to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
GROWTH – We completed a comprehensive renovation of our upstairs offices. This renovation was the first step of our upcoming building expansion, which is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
LOCAL ART – Our outside warehouse wall got an upgrade! After putting it to a vote with the entire team, it was decided to adorn our west-facing wall, the only visible part of our campus from the Pinellas Trail, with a mural from local artists Juan Pablo and Vanessa Parra.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – We brought back an employee-favorite: our Lunch and Learns! Led by our training manager Elise Bexley, these one-hour sessions help our team members better understand some of the product lines we carry, and explore new ways to promote them to customers.
CEO BUILD – Our CEO Randy Ware was part of the Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties inaugural CEO Build. Randy volunteered at the site of a homeowner candidate’s future house, where he lent a hand in landscaping the property.
BEAUTIFICATION – The WestCMR team took it upon themselves to clean up about 300 yards of the Pinellas Trail, directly adjacent to our fence. In a few months, volunteers from our team removed trees, invasive vines, and lots of garbage. We then partnered with the Pinellas County extension of the University of Florida to plant dozens of bald cypress and long leaf pine trees.
COVER STAR – CEO Randy Ware appeared on the cover of the May edition of Belleair Living Magazine. In his interview, he discussed business history, the significance of the 25th anniversary milestone, as well as some professional and personal goals for the future.
RECOGNITION – WestCMR was recognized with the Community Spirit Award from AMPLIFY Clearwater. This award pays tribute to our organization for making a big difference in the lives of others. It shows that we are committed to corporate social responsibility and dedicated to making the Tampa Bay Region a better place to live, work, and play.

TECHNOLOGY – We launched a new website, with improved search functionalities and better user interface. Our main goal was to improve content, browsing experience, and overall customer experience with new filter capabilities, multiple user options, and more.
PHILANTHROPY – WestCMR cumulative charitable contributions surpass $1,000,000.
RECRUITING – We grew our team once again to prepare for post-pandemic growth, by adding a seat on each team.
TENURE – We celebrated 3 more employees reaching the 5-year milestone with WestCMR.
RECOGNITION – WestCMR was recognized with the Business Excellence Award from AMPLIFY Clearwater for companies of 25+ employees. This award salutes excellence and best business practices, and recognizes WestCMR as a standout organization in its community.
INTERNATIONAL – GeoSurgical launched international marketing campaigns for Arabic-speaking and French-speaking markets and received their first order from one of their international websites!
EXPANSION – WestCMR purchased and renovated an adjacent building, expanding our climate-controlled warehouse space to 20,000 sqft.
INTENSIVE GROWTH – The team at WestCMR is the largest it's ever been, now employing 60 people.

COMMUNITY – WestCMR partnered with Clearwater-based entertainment venue Ruth Eckerd Hall as the Presenting Sponsor of its Blast Friday. Blast Friday is a free concert series for the community in Downtown Clearwater, FL, happening on the last Friday of the month from January to May.
TENURE – WestCMR celebrated its first team member to reach 10 years of employment: Global Sales and Acquisitions Director, Sandra Carvalho.
RECOGNITION - WestCMR was officially recognized by GrowFL as a “Florida Company To Watch” at the 9th Annual Florida Companies to Watch Celebration on November 14, 2019, validating the integrity of our business and how we treat our customers and team members.
INTERNATIONAL – WestCMR’s sister company, GeoSurgical, partnered with IBT Online and launched websites for its international customers, namely in the UAE and China.
ONCE AGAIN – This year marks the 6th year in a row WestCMR was named one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
PHILANTHROPY – WestCMR Founder and CEO Randy Ware and two of his employees traveled to Cambodia to participate in a Global Village Build with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties.
EXPANSION – WestCMR’s warehouse underwent an impressive 2,000+ square foot expansion and the team added a Marketing Department to grow its brands.
PHILANTHROPY – All employees of WestCMR now receive two paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) days to join the company in its philanthropic aspirations.
FIVE YEARS IN A ROW – Once again, WestCMR was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare.”
COMMUNITY – After winning the Large Business of the Year award in 2017, WestCMR team members participated in the Clearwater Regional Chamber's selection committee for the 2018 Large Charity of the Year award.

AWARD – After receiving its 3rd nomination, WestCMR was recognized as the Large Business of the Year at the Clearwater Regional Chamber’s annual dinner. CEO Randy Ware accepted the award and delivered a speech thanking the community for its recognition of the companies growth.
CONTINUED RECOGNITION – For the 4th year in a row, WestCMR was recognized as one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
MILESTONE – WestCMR celebrated 20 years in business with a reception for its team members and their significant others at the beautiful Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach Resort. The anniversary was also when Randy Ware, Founder and CEO, announced the Trip Of A Lifetime (TOAL) program to reward tenured employees: team members reaching 5, 10 and 15 years of service will be sent on an all-expense-paid trip of their choice.
EMPOWERING OUR PEOPLE – In the spring of 2017, WestCMR introduced WestCMR Cares, a program geared towards supporting its employees through hurricane season. Through the program, and in preparation for an incoming storm, each team member receives a hurricane kit with supplies, as well as non-perishable food items and water. Generators, sand bags and wood boards are also made available to help everyone hunker down safely.
INTERNATIONAL – GeoSurgical traveled to Dubai and Germany for their first international tradeshows.
THIRD YEAR IN A ROW – This year marks the 3rd year in a row WestCMR was named one of the "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" by Becker's Hospital Review.
PEOPLE BEFORE PROFITS - In the spring of 2016, WestCMR rolled out its Employee Appreciation Program. Monthly appreciation lunches, Employee of the Month awards, Caught You Doing Something Right and other perks are all part of this program designed to celebrate the wonderful and hardworking people behind the services we offer.
PHILANTHROPY – In the spring of 2016, they held the first Cut Funds a Cure fundraising event benefitting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation on-site. Multiple team members rose to the challenge: they got their hair cut or temporarily colored and WestCMR donated $100 per cut/$50 per color to the NPCF.
COMMUNITY – WestCMR was nominated by its local business peers for the Large Business of the Year award, given annually by the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce.
INNOVATION – Ware Consulting, LLC was established. WestCMR Global debuted as the parent company of WestCMR, GeoSurgical, and Ware Consulting.
TECHNOLOGY – WestCMR introduced the option for our customers to purchase directly on our website.

THE BEAT GOES ON - WestCMR hit several milestones: for the 2nd year in a row, they were acknowledged by Becker's Hospital Review as one of the "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare," initiated a corporate-wide Philanthropy Program, completed a building expansion that included a fully equipped gym, increased their staff to 38 employees, and continued their momentum in both market penetration and company growth.
HAVING AN IMPACT - WestCMR was honored with the 2013-2014 Platinum Supplier award from MedAssets, an award that less than 5% of MedAssets' 1,800 suppliers receive.
CONTINUED GROWTH - WestCMR broke ground on a 11,000 square foot expansion and set a goal to add 6-8 more employees by the end of the year.
FIRST TIME - WestCMR was named one of the "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" by Becker's Hospital Review.

CONTINUED GROWTH - By 2013, WestCMR grew to 22 employees and moved from Seminole, FL to a fully renovated 15,000 square foot facility in Clearwater, FL.
GIVING BACK - In 2013, the WestCMR team made a concerted effort to make an impact on their communities and the organizations they work with.
A SEAT AT THE TABLE - WestCMR became the first company of its kind to secure a national contract with one of the Big 5 GPOs (MedAssets).

ESTABLISHING AWARENESS - What was once a company of "one" became 13 employees in 2011. These talented specialists embarked on the difficult journey of creating awareness in a relatively complacent healthcare industry by challenging the status quo.
GROWTH - WestCMR's first employee was hired in 2009. They began assembling a team of specialists to further solidify its position as the single largest buyer of surplus surgical disposable products in the U.S. market.

INCEPTION - WestCMR was founded in May of 1997 by Randy Ware (current CEO). Randy's vision to address the immense waste in healthcare spurred an innovative way to put money back into healthcare facilities and prevent viable surgical supplies from ending up in landfills.
