DemeTECH chromic catgut is an absorbable, sterile surgical suture made from connective tissue (mainly collagen) from beef or sheep intestines. Treated with chromium salt, it resists body enzymes and takes over 90 days to absorb. This coating lessens irritation and enhances strand integrity. The suture's quality is gauged by its collagen percentage - more collagen equates to higher strength, slower absorption and fewer in-body reactions.
